Reiki Master - Body MeridiansReiki masters often talk about human body meridians, and to the untrained eye and ear, it would seem to be quite a mystical topic as they bandy about their subject on energy flows, chakras and healing. The funny thing is, the meridian system has been around for thousands of years, and many cultures all over the world have borrowed from this system simply because it makes sense. If we replace energy with ‘Chi’ or the popular Chinese term for universal energy, then we akin the meridian system to the blood vessels in our body that bring lifeblood to the various parts of the body. These are what you learn as you tread the path to becoming a Reiki master.

It is this ebb and flow that we must focus on. Chi or energy must also have its own ebb and flow, and it is through these meridian systems, or these energy vessels that energy is focused and transferred from one point of the body to the next. That is the gift that is the meridian system, and understanding you must master to attain the three levels of Reiki.

The popular belief and the foundation of Reiki is that there will be times when there are blockages in these meridians and thus, many ailments and discomforts would come about. This is the same if one of our blood vessels (major) would have some sort of blockages. The human body would respond straight away. While there are ways for us to fix these blood vessels and modern technologies that can help us, the meridian system is much more traditional and a little ore mystical. Now, if the Chi is unbalanced, the ying and the yang of it is that we will experience discomfort, stress and overall – not feeling too good.
There are 12 basic and primary meridians that exist within our body. They flow within our major organs that make up the colon, the spleen, heart, urinary bladder, gall bladder, etc. You can look up the full list in any website that talk about Reiki. The important thing to note here is that these systems are also used in many other techniques like acupuncture.

Also, do not be fooled by the simplicity of these meridians. While they are centred on these organs, they are also interconnected with many other delivery systems within the body. In fact, they are quite complex things to deal with. Masters of Reiki will use the meridians together with Chakras to balance the Chi within the human body. Their treatment is highly associative with the symptoms that the person exhibits and is determined by how energy is interrupted within the body itself.

One of the more obscure things to note is that these meridians also emit auras that you need to ‘feel’ out and identify. Negative auras are a sure sign that there is a blockage and something needs to be done. You need to be able to open up all the Chakras (The 7 Chakras of Reiki) in the human body and cause a smooth flow within the meridian system. If you akin this to blood vessels again, a healthy human body without any problems is a body that has no internal blockages or interruptions.
